On January 23rd, the Coast Fork Willamette Watershed Council (CFWWC) welcomes fifth-generation farmer and President of Lane Families for Farms and Forests, Marie Bowers, for our January 2018 Science Pub presentation entitled Not Your Grandpa’s Farm or Forest. Lane Families for Farms and Forests is a new grassroots organization in Lane County which focuses on harnessing support for Lane County’s rich heritage of agriculture and forestry. Farming and forestry in Lane County are continually evolving and utilizing new technologies. The continued innovations and advancements in these two important Lane County sectors contribute to their viability and sustainability in our community. The CFWWC hosts a family friendly monthly public meeting series called the Coast Fork Science Pub on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 5-7pm at the Axe & Fiddle, 657 E. Main Street in Cottage Grove. The event begins with informal socializing, trivia, and updates about the watershed and watershed council during the first hour. The Science Pub presentation begins at 6pm. CFWWC receives 10% of all sales from the evening between 5-7:30pm. The event is free to the public, with a $5 donation suggested.
