"Stage 0" Floodplain Restoration on the Lower South Fork McKenzie River presented by Jared Weybright, Executive Director of the McKenzie Watershed Council, will be the focus of the January 2020 Science on Tap. "Stage 0" refers to an approach to floodplain restoration that seeks to maximize floodplain connection at all flow conditions by removing artificially placed sediments (i.e. berms, historic roadbeds, etc.). The presentation will describe the project’s design approach, highlight the implementation process and an overview of project monitoring. Join us to learn about the benefits of landscape-scale restoration in delicate water systems. The Coast Fork Willamette Watershed Council (CFWWC) hosts a family-friendly monthly public meeting series called Science on Tap on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 5-7pm at the Axe & Fiddle, 657 E. Main Street in Cottage Grove. The event begins with informal socializing, trivia, and updates about the watershed and watershed council during the first hour. The Science on Tap presentation begins at 6pm. CFWWC receives 10% of all sales from the evening between 5-7:30pm. The event is free to the public, with a $5 donation suggested.
