The Annual Bald Eagle Count will visit Dorena Reservoir and Cottage Grove Reservoir to count juvenile and adult bald eagles, as well as any other birds that winter in the area. Led by Alison Center of the Coast Fork Birders, participants will contribute citizen science data to the Oregon Eagle Foundation’s statewide midwinter eagle count. All levels of bird enthusiasts are invited to participate. Meet at the US Forest Service (USFS) Cottage Grove Ranger District office, 78405 Cedar Park Road in Cottage Grove, at 10am. We will visit Dorena Reservoir in the morning, return to the USFS parking lot from 12:30pm-1pm for lunch break and then visit Cottage Grove Reservoir in the afternoon. Birders who are unable to participate for the whole day may participate in the morning or afternoon, just be sure to arrive at the USFS at the scheduled times. Remember to bring water, snacks, lunch, binoculars, your favorite bird identification book and be prepared for cold, wet weather conditions. Please contact the Coast Fork Willamette Watershed Council (CFWWC) office (541) 767-9717 or email maggie@coastfork.org with questions or to RSVP. More information can be found online at www.coastfork.org and on the CFWWC Facebook.
